Options compared
Insurance commission tracking & reconciliation software for independent agencies: options compared (2026)
Agency management system built-ins, dedicated tools, spreadsheets and Lapidar. Every vendor statement links to the vendor’s own page, checked 12 Oct 2026.
In short
- Most independent agencies already have commission features in their agency management system (AMS). Several AMS vendors document carrier commission downloads, statement imports and matching.
- Dedicated tools exist too, some aimed at life and health agencies, some general commission software with an insurance use.
- Lapidar is new and in its founding pilot. It checks statement files against your book export and schedule, and flags commission never paid. It has no AMS integration and no carrier downloads.
- Every vendor statement below links to that vendor’s own page, checked 12 Oct 2026. Where we found nothing, we say “not documented”, not “doesn’t have”.
If you are searching for insurance commission tracking or commission reconciliation software, you are choosing between three kinds of option: the commission features of the AMS you already pay for, a dedicated commission tool, or a spreadsheet. This page lists real options, what each vendor publicly documents about commissions, and how to decide. We build Lapidar, one of the options, so we have kept every claim about other products to what their own pages say.
How to choose
Ask these questions of any option, including ours:
- How do statements get in? Carrier download (data feeds such as direct bill commission statement downloads), file import (CSV, Excel, PDF), or typing. Downloads cover the carriers that offer them; the rest arrive as files.
- What is “expected” compared against? Reconciliation needs an expected amount: a rate stored per carrier and line, or a schedule you provide. Without one, a tool can only record what was paid.
- Can it see commission that never arrived? A policy that produced no statement line is easy to miss. Ask whether the tool also checks your book of policies, not only the statement lines.
- Duplicates and chargebacks. Does it flag the same payment twice and pair a reversal with the original?
- Producer pay. Agency-side reconciliation (what carriers paid you) and producer compensation (what you pay producers) are different jobs. Know which you need.
- Licensing and cost. Some features are separately licensed options. Ask what your current contract includes before buying anything new.
- Output. Can you hand a carrier a list of what is owed, with the source line for each item?

The options
Listed by type, then alphabetically within agency management systems. Each statement is a paraphrase or short quote of the linked vendor page. Products change; confirm with the vendor.
Applied Epic · Agency management system
Applied Systems’ agency management system. Its help center documents direct bill statement reconciliation in the general ledger; Applied also describes Applied Recon, a separate AI matching product for statements.
- Help documentation describes associating a suspended or finalized direct bill statement with an existing receipt, disbursement or journal entry. Source: help.appliedsystems.com, checked 12 Oct 2026.
- Applied describes Applied Recon as matching statement data to Applied Epic transactions using six signals, including partial matches, across certified P&C and Benefits carriers for direct bill; the post said agency bill would follow in the first half of 2026 (we have not confirmed whether it has shipped). Source: www1.appliedsystems.com, checked 12 Oct 2026.
Vertafore AMS360 · Agency management system
Vertafore’s agency management system. Its help center documents an optional, separately licensed download of direct bill commission statements with automatic matching to AMS360 entries.
- “Download Direct Bill Commission Statement (DBCS) is offered as an optional download feature in AMS360,” and it “requires a license.” Source: help.vertafore.com, checked 12 Oct 2026.
- Auto Match attempts to match downloaded transactions with corresponding AMS360 entries. Source: help.vertafore.com, checked 12 Oct 2026.
HawkSoft · Agency management system
An agency management system whose commission management overview covers carrier downloads, a spreadsheet importer, commission rules and agent payout.
- Statements carriers send by download are added to a Reconcile Statements tab; spreadsheet statements can be imported and matched to client and policy where possible with the Commission Importer. Source: blog.hawksoft.com, checked 12 Oct 2026.
- Commission rules are created per agent position and can be applied to specific carriers, agents and lines of business; an Agent Payout tab marks transactions paid to agents. Source: blog.hawksoft.com, checked 12 Oct 2026.
- HawkSoft says commission tracking is built in, with operating accounting managed in QuickBooks. Source: www.hawksoft.com, checked 12 Oct 2026.
EZLynx · Agency management system
An agency management system. EZLynx’s own announcement describes importing commission statements with reusable field mappings per carrier.
- Commission statements can be imported as CSV, using EZLynx’s template or custom field mappings per carrier that are reused each month, and imported line items are matched to policies. Source: www.ezlynx.com, checked 12 Oct 2026.
Momentum AMS (NowCerts) · Agency management system
An agency management system; its support site states that Momentum is a trademark of NowCerts, Inc. The support site documents processing direct bill commission statements from carrier downloads.
- Direct bill commission statements from carrier downloads are recorded, and once the statement is created the agency commission is automatically reconciled. Source: support.momentumamp.com, checked 12 Oct 2026.
QQCatalyst · Agency management system
Vertafore’s cloud agency management system. Its help center documents commission setup to track money received from insurance companies.
- Commission rules are built from policy details, and tiered carrier commission based on total policy premium can be set up. Source: help.vertafore.com, checked 12 Oct 2026.
AgencyBloc · Agency management and commissions for life and health
Software for life, health and benefits agencies with a commissions processing product.

- Its pricing page says packages are based on volume of transactions; amounts are by quote. Source: www.agencybloc.com, checked 12 Oct 2026.
IVANS Download · Carrier download network
Not commission tracking software: a network that delivers carrier data, including direct bill commission statements, into agency systems. Reconciliation then happens in the agency’s system.
- IVANS tells carriers its Direct Bill Commission Statement download helps their agency partners automate the commission process so commissions are reconciled each month. Source: www.ivans.com, checked 12 Oct 2026.
Commissionly · General commission software with insurance use
Sales commission software with an insurance page and a separate commission payment monitoring product.
- Commissions can be calculated by product, category, policy type or company, and shared with multiple agents or brokers; data comes in by CSV upload or Zapier. Source: www.commissionly.io, checked 12 Oct 2026.
- Its commission payment monitoring page says the software detects discrepancies and missing payments, and lists plan prices on that page. Source: www.commissionly.io, checked 12 Oct 2026.
A spreadsheet · Do it yourself
A common method. It costs nothing extra and fits any carrier, but it depends on someone doing it every month, and it only checks the policies someone thinks to look up. We compare the two approaches in spreadsheet vs commission reconciliation software.
Lapidar · Statement checker, founding pilot
Our product, and new: it is in a founding pilot for up to 7 agencies, with no customers or published results yet. It is not an AMS and works beside one.
- You upload your book (CSV or XLSX export from your AMS), your commission schedule (CSV, XLSX or typed in), and the carrier statements as sent (CSV, XLSX or PDF with a text layer).
- Each commission line and each policy that owed commission in the period is matched by carrier and policy number and labeled Missing, Underpaid, Paid twice, Chargeback, Overpaid, Not in book or Unchecked, with the statement page and row behind it.
- Output: a findings page, CSV export and a printable report per carrier. You send it; Lapidar never contacts carriers.
- It doesn’t do: AMS integration, OCR for scanned PDFs, carrier downloads or AL3/XML import, producer pay, bank reconciliation or accounting entries. Results depend on your book and schedule being right.
- Price: USD 99 a month plus applicable tax during the founding pilot, as published.
Full detail: commission reconciliation software and the sample report (invented data). If you are on an AMS, see also AMS commission tools vs Lapidar.
Vendor by vendor
Longer, single-vendor pages, with when the vendor is the better choice: AgencyBloc alternative, Commissionly alternative, reconciling Applied Epic direct bill statements, HawkSoft commission tracking, reconciling AMS360 direct bill statements, EZLynx commission reconciliation, Momentum AMS (NowCerts) direct bill statements and QQCatalyst commission tracking.
What we left out, and why
We only list an option when its own public pages document each statement we make. QuickBooks was left out because we found no Intuit page in the US describing insurance commission statement features. Pricing is shown only where the vendor publishes it; most of the vendors above quote on request. If you represent a vendor and something here is out of date or wrong, write to contact@getlapidar.com and we will correct it.
Frequently asked questions
What is insurance commission tracking software?
Software that records the commission an agency is owed and paid by carriers, often by policy, and in some products also calculates producer pay. Many agency management systems include commission tracking; dedicated tools exist too.
What is the difference between commission tracking and commission reconciliation?
Tracking records what was paid. Reconciliation compares what was paid with what was expected from the policy premium and the agreed rate, and lists the differences, such as missing, underpaid or duplicated commission.
Does my agency management system already reconcile commissions?
Possibly. Several AMS vendors document carrier commission downloads, statement imports or matching, sometimes as separately licensed options. Check your contract and ask your vendor.
Is Lapidar an alternative to Applied Epic, AMS360 or HawkSoft?
No. Lapidar is not an agency management system and does not replace one. It checks carrier statement files against an export of your book and your commission schedule, beside whatever AMS you use.
Is Lapidar affiliated with any vendor on this page?
No. Lapidar is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any vendor named here. Product names are trademarks of their owners, used only to identify the products.
How current is this comparison?
Each vendor statement was checked against the vendor’s own public page on 12 October 2026. Products change, so confirm details with the vendor.
