Reconciling AMS360 direct bill commission statements: your options

AMS360 is an agency management system, so this is not an “alternative to AMS360” page. It compares the ways to reconcile direct bill commission statements for an AMS360 agency. Every Vertafore statement links to Vertafore’s own page, checked 12 Oct 2026.

By Lapidar, the team building it ·

Vertafore AMS360 is an agency management system. Lapidar does not replace it and does not connect to it; it checks statement files against a book export and schedule, beside AMS360. Which AMS360 export to use is covered on a separate page; this one is about reconciliation options. We build Lapidar, so we have kept every statement about Vertafore AMS360 to what Vertafore AMS360’s own public pages say, each linked and dated. Where we found nothing, we say so; that does not mean the product lacks it.

What Vertafore AMS360 documents about commissions

Vertafore’s agency management system. Its help center documents an optional, separately licensed download of direct bill commission statements with automatic matching to AMS360 entries.

  • “Download Direct Bill Commission Statement (DBCS) is offered as an optional download feature in AMS360,” and it “requires a license.” Source: help.vertafore.com, checked 12 Oct 2026.
  • Auto Match attempts to match downloaded transactions with corresponding AMS360 entries. Source: help.vertafore.com, checked 12 Oct 2026.
  • After Auto Match, rows that remain can be matched manually, and Vertafore suggests printing the Download Report, which identifies transactions needing further attention. Source: help.vertafore.com, checked 12 Oct 2026.

When Vertafore AMS360 is the better choice

  • You license DBCS and your carriers send statements electronically: Auto Match then tries to match each downloaded transaction to AMS360 entries on fields such as policy number, transaction type, premium and commission, and remaining rows can be matched by hand.
  • You want matched transactions merged into AMS360’s direct bill statement, in the system where your accounting lives. Lapidar makes no accounting entries.
  • You want one system rather than another tool and another upload each month.

When Lapidar may fit

  • You do not license the DBCS download, or some carriers’ statements reach you as PDF or spreadsheet files instead.
  • You want a second, independent check: statements compared with an export of your book and your own schedule, including policies that produced no statement line.
  • You want a per-carrier report of what looks owed, tied to the statement page and row, to send to the carrier.

Some agencies use both: their system for day-to-day commission records, and a monthly check of statements against the book.

What Lapidar does, and doesn’t

Lapidar is new and in a founding pilot for up to 7 agencies, with no customers or published results yet. It is not an agency management system and works beside one.

  • You upload your book (CSV or XLSX export from your AMS), your commission schedule (CSV, XLSX or typed in), and the carrier statements as sent (CSV, XLSX or PDF with a text layer).
  • Each commission line and each policy that owed commission in the period is matched by carrier and policy number and labeled Missing, Underpaid, Paid twice, Chargeback, Overpaid, Not in book or Unchecked, with the statement page and row behind it.
  • Output: a findings page, CSV export and a printable report per carrier. You send it; Lapidar never contacts carriers.
  • It doesn’t do: AMS integration, OCR for scanned PDFs, carrier downloads or AL3/XML import, producer pay, bank reconciliation or accounting entries. Results depend on your book and schedule being right.
  • Price: USD 99 a month plus applicable tax during the founding pilot, as published.

Full detail is on the commission reconciliation software page; the output is shown on the sample report (invented data).

Frequently asked questions

Is Lapidar an alternative to AMS360?

No. AMS360 is an agency management system; Lapidar is not and has no AMS360 integration. It checks statement files against an export of your book and your commission schedule.

Does AMS360 match direct bill statements automatically?

Vertafore’s help describes Auto Match for downloaded direct bill commission statements (DBCS, a licensed option), with remaining rows matched manually and a Download Report to review. Ask Vertafore which carriers and editions apply to your agency.

How is this different from the AMS360 export page?

The separate page “Commission reconciliation for agencies on Vertafore AMS360” explains which files to bring to Lapidar. This page compares reconciliation options: what AMS360 documents, and when a separate check helps.

Is Lapidar affiliated with Vertafore?

No. Lapidar is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Vertafore. Vertafore AMS360 is a trademark of its owner, used here only to identify the product.
