Who builds Lapidar
About Lapidar
Lapidar is commission reconciliation software for US independent agencies. Here is who builds it, why, and what is finished so far.
In short
- Lapidar is built and run by one person: Alan Balcerowiak, a software engineer in Wieliczka, near Kraków, Poland.
- The founding pilot opened on October 10, 2026. There are no customers or case studies yet.
- You can write to me directly at contact@getlapidar.com. Messages come straight to me.
A note from Alan
I’m Alan. I build software, and my day job is on-premise AI systems: assistants that answer from a company’s own documents, run on the company’s own hardware and say “I don’t know” instead of guessing. On the side I do web application security research, and report findings directly to the teams that own the software. I study cybersecurity in Kraków.
Lapidar is not an AI product, and that is deliberate. Checking commission is arithmetic: a premium, a rate, an amount paid. That should be done by plain, deterministic code that gives the same answer every time and can show you the statement line behind every number. No language model reads your files.
I picked commission reconciliation because it is a narrow, unglamorous problem with real money in it. An independent agency gets statements from many carriers, each in its own layout, and most months nobody has the hours to check every line against the book. A rate drops at renewal, a renewal never pays, an endorsement pays twice and gets charged back later. Those are the mistakes Lapidar is built to find.
I’m in Poland, selling to agencies in the US. I know that’s a reasonable thing to be cautious about. So this site tries to say plainly who I am, where your data sits, what is done and what isn’t, and how to reach me.
What is done, and what isn’t
Working today, in the founding pilot:
- Upload carrier statements as CSV, XLSX or PDF with a text layer, plus a book export from your agency management system and your commission schedule.
- Findings: missing, underpaid, paid twice, chargebacks and lines not in your book, each with the dollar amount and the statement line it came from.
- A printable letter to a carrier listing the items you choose to raise.
- Export of your findings and deletion of your account at any time.
- Sign-up with email and password or with Google, and a subscription through Stripe checkout.
Not done yet:
- No OCR, so scanned or photographed PDFs won’t read.
- No direct connection to any agency management system.
- Some carrier layouts need a column mapping the first time.
- No two-factor login, no disk encryption at rest and no off-site backups yet. The security page explains each.
- No SOC 2, ISO 27001 or other certification.
What changes, and when, is listed in the changelog.

Who you are buying from
The Lapidar service is provided by Alan Balcerowiak, a natural person running an unregistered business activity (działalność nierejestrowana) under Polish law, ul. Bajeczna 49/2, 32-020 Wieliczka, Poland.
The subscription itself is sold through Stripe’s Managed Payments: Link, a Stripe company, is the reseller and merchant of record, so receipts come from Link and your card statement shows something like LINK.COM* LAPIDAR. Details are in the terms of service.
