How Travelers delivers commission statements

A Travelers agent document on download (dated 2007) describes Travelers as one of the first companies to offer direct bill commission download for both Personal Insurance and Business Insurance, and names Agent HQ as the portal for current Travelers agents. We found no current public Travelers page on the timing or file format of the statement in Agent HQ, or on agency bill statements. The 2007 document is old; treat its description as history and confirm current options with your Travelers contact.

What to check on Travelers statements

Rate by business type and state

Travelers says the base percentage varies by type of business, risk and state, so one flat rate per carrier will flag false errors. Hold your schedule at the level your agreement uses and check each line against it with the commission calculator if you want to test one by hand.

New business and renewal

Commission is paid on both. Check that renewals carry the renewal rate and that none are missing; see new business vs renewal commission and missing renewal commissions.

Book roll incentives

If you moved a book to Travelers under an incentive agreement, check that the extra commission appears on the policies it covers; insurance book roll explains the mechanics.

Contingent compensation

It is evaluated annually against goals, not per policy, so it will not reconcile line by line. Contingent commission covers what to keep.
