The Hartford commission statements
What The Hartford publishes about the commission statements it sends independent agents, with a source for every line, and what to check when one arrives.

In short
- Every statement about The Hartford on this page has a public source next to it. Where we found nothing, we say so.
- Lapidar does not download from The Hartford, read IVANS, AL3 or XML files, or connect to your agency management system. It reads the statement as a file: CSV, XLSX or a PDF with selectable text.
How The Hartford delivers commission statements
- The Hartford’s Download Program sends “Monthly Commission Statements” for direct bill accounts in commercial and personal lines, and for payroll billed policies in commercial lines (workers’ compensation only). (Source: thehartford.com, Download Program, checked 13 Oct 2026.)
- It says it sends commission statements “so they generally arrive on the first business day of the current month”. (Source: thehartford.com, Download Program, checked 13 Oct 2026.)
- The same page lists what it does not download, including audits, general liability, property, monoline commercial umbrella and manually processed policies and endorsements, and states where download is not supported (Hawaii and Alaska, Florida homeowners, Massachusetts personal lines). (Source: thehartford.com, Download Program, checked 13 Oct 2026.)
- Vertafore’s AMS360 carrier list marks Hartford Insurance as certified for direct bill commission download, delivered through IVANS. (Source: Vertafore AMS360 Carrier Partner List, updated 16 Sep 2026 (spreadsheet), checked 13 Oct 2026.)
- The Hartford’s personal lines compensation disclosure gives historic base commission ranges for 90% of personal policies (for example, automobile 7% to 16%, homeowners 7% to 15%), says those ranges are net of policyholder service fees charged to the producer (generally 1% of premium when they apply), and describes contingent and supplemental commission paid in addition to base commission. (Source: thehartford.com, Personal Lines Producer Compensation, checked 13 Oct 2026.)
The pages we found do not say what file formats the statement takes when you view it outside the download, or how agency bill business is statemented. Ask your Hartford contact; the download page lists Agency Interface Services as the place to ask about download.
What to check on The Hartford statements
Policies the download skips
Because audits and several commercial policy types are listed as not downloaded, those commission lines need a check by hand even if the rest flows into your agency management system. Audit commission is easy to miss; see commission on premium audits.
Rate against your schedule, net of fees
Compare each line with your commission schedule. If a policyholder service fee applies, the published personal lines ranges are net of it, so a rate one point below what you expected may be the fee rather than an error; your agreement decides. Why did my commission change? covers the other usual causes.
Renewals that should have paid
A statement only shows what was paid. Policies in your book that renewed and have no line are the ones to chase; see missing renewal commissions.
Contingent and supplemental commission
These are paid on performance and on separate terms from base commission. Check them against your agreement rather than against the monthly lines; insurance agency profit sharing explains how such plans work.
Checking it with Lapidar
Lapidar is new and in a founding pilot, with no customers or published results yet. You upload your book export, your commission schedule and your The Hartford statement as a file; every policy that should have paid in the period is matched by carrier and policy number and labeled missing, underpaid, paid twice, chargeback, overpaid, not in book or unchecked, with the statement row behind it. It does not contact The Hartford for you. Formats and limits are on the product page; terms and price are on the pilot page.
