# Commission reconciliation for agencies on Applied Epic

Epic already gives you a place to reconcile direct bill statements. This page is about the files you would bring to Lapidar for an independent check beside it, and which statements matter most.

## In short

- Lapidar has no Applied Epic integration. It works from files: a book export, your commission schedule, and the statements your carriers sent.
- Statements: CSV, XLSX or PDF with selectable text. Book and schedule: CSV or XLSX.
- Statements about Applied Epic below come from Applied Systems’s own public pages, cited on [our Applied Epic comparison](https://getlapidar.com/compare/applied-epic-commission-reconciliation/) (checked 12 Oct 2026).

## Where Epic already reconciles

Applied’s help documentation describes associating a suspended or finalized direct bill statement with an existing receipt, disbursement or journal entry in Epic’s general ledger. Applied also describes Applied Recon, a separate product that matches statement data to Epic transactions across certified carriers for direct bill, with agency bill announced for the first half of 2026 (we have not confirmed it shipped). Both are accounting work inside Epic. Lapidar does not touch your ledger: it compares the statements with your book and your rates and lists what looks owed.

## Which statements to bring

Start where Epic and Applied Recon do not reach for you: carriers outside Applied Recon’s certified list, or all carriers if you don’t license it, and agency bill statements. Bring each statement as the carrier sent it: CSV, XLSX, or a PDF with selectable text. A scanned PDF is an image and Lapidar can’t read it; there is no OCR. If a carrier’s layout isn’t recognised, you match its columns once and Lapidar remembers them for that carrier the next month.

## The book export from Epic

We did not find a public Applied help page that names a policy list export suitable for this, so we won’t guess a report name. Use any Epic policy listing you can save as CSV or Excel. If it saves as the older .xls, open it and save it as .xlsx first; Lapidar reads the book only as CSV or .xlsx. A formatted report with group headings and subtotals is harder to read as rows than a plain listing.

Whatever report you use, Lapidar needs one row per policy, with columns for carrier (named the way you name it in your schedule), policy number, line of business, new or renewal and written premium; insured name, effective date and number of installments help if you have them. The first time, you tell Lapidar which column is which. Policy numbers that differ from the carrier’s only by dashes, spaces, a renewal suffix or leading zeros (after any prefix you list) are matched automatically. Files can be up to 20 MB.

## After the check

Each finding (missing, underpaid, paid twice, chargeback, overpaid, not in book) points to the statement page and row or the book row, and there is a printable report per carrier to send. Anything you correct goes into Epic by hand, in the ledger where your accountant expects it.

Every supported format and limit is on the [product page](https://getlapidar.com/commission-reconciliation-software/); the output is on the [sample report](https://getlapidar.com/sample-report/) (invented data). ## Frequently asked questions

### Does Lapidar replace Applied Recon?

No. Applied Recon matches statement data to Epic transactions inside Applied’s products. Lapidar is a separate check of statement files against your book export and schedule, and makes no entries in Epic.

### Which Epic report should I export?

Any policy listing with one row per policy that you can save as CSV or .xlsx. We did not find a public Applied help page naming a specific report, so ask your Epic administrator which listing your agency uses.

### Is Lapidar affiliated with Applied Systems?

No. Lapidar is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Applied Systems. Applied Epic is a trademark of its owner.
